US teenager Bryan Arguez signs contract with Germany soccer team Hertha Berlin

BERLIN (AP) -American teenager Bryan Arguez signed a 3 1/2-year contract Tuesday with Hertha Berlin, a year after being selected in the first round of the MLS draft by D.C. United.

The 19-year-old United player has been training with Hertha since early January.

"We are pleased that we've been able to sign one of biggest talents on the U.S. Under-20 team," the Bundesliga club said in a statement. "He's already shown his talent and potential in friendly games."

Arguez, from Miami, did not appear in any regular-season matches for United.

Hertha coach Lucien Favre is rebuilding the team, which is 12th in the 18-team Bundesliga halfway through the season.
