Beckham admits he's not 100 percent for 100th international appearance

SEOUL, South Korea -- David Beckham says he's still not fit enough to return to international duties in what would be his 100th appearance for England.

"I would love to reach the hundred caps, but I have to be physically ready to be part of the team," Beckham told a media conference Wednesday in Seoul. "All I've done is training, so I have not much fitness."

Beckham arrived in South Korean capital Tuesday as his Major League Soccer the Los Angeles Galaxy kicked off a three-match Asian tour. The Galaxy will play FC Seoul in a friendly match Saturday before continuing its tour in Shanghai, China, on March 5 and Hong Kong on March 9.

Former England captain Beckham was denied his 100th national team appearance last month by new England coach Fabio Capello, who thought the midfielder lacked form as he had not played a competitive match since November.

"I played under Fabio Capello before, you know," said Beckham, dressed in a dark blue Galaxy training top.

"He is a great manager and a good person," Beckham added. "He is a manager that I understand well and he is a manager that also, I've said before, that will pick players if he believes they are fit enough.

"And with me playing no games it was only right that there are other players that played many games," he said.

Beckham set up both goals Sunday as the Galaxy beat Australian side Sydney FC 2-1 to finish third in the inaugural Pan-Pacific Championship exhibition tournament in Hawaii.

Los Angeles will opens its MLS regular-season schedule March 29 at Colorado against the Rapids.
