AS Roma wins to close gap behind Inter Milan in Serie A to 1 point with 1 game left

MILAN, Italy (AP) -Christian Panucci and Daniele De Rossi scored to lead AS Roma to a 2-1 victory over Atalanta and move within one point of Serie A leader Inter Milan with one round left in the season.

Panucci headed home in the 23rd minute, and De Rossi scored on a free kick in the 67th that found the top corner of the net.

Gianpaolo Bellini scored for Atalanta in the 88th.

Inter could only draw 2-2 draw at home to Siena, which twice rallied from a goal down. Inter defender Marco Materazzi missed a penalty in the 78th that would have put the defending champions ahead 3-2.

Inter leads with 82 points, while Roma has 81.

In the final round, Inter travels to play Parma, which has to win to avoid relegation. Roma plays at Catania, which will be relegated if it loses and Parma wins.

Also, Sunday it was: Fiorentina 3, Parma 1; Genoa 0, Lazio 2; Juventus 1, Catania 1; Livorno 0, Torino 1; Napoli 3, AC Milan 1; Palermo 0, Sampdoria 2; Reggina 2, Empoli 0; and Udinese 0, Cagliari 2.
