Revolution 1, Crystal Palace 1 (5-3 after PKs)

NEW BRITAIN, Conn. -- Doug Warren made a sprawling save to his left on the fourth penalty kick and the New England Revolution advanced to the U.S. Open Cup semifinals with a shootout victory over Crystal Palace Baltimore.

 

The Revolution will play MLS rival D.C. United in the semifinals on Aug. 12. United beat the Chicago Fire, another MLS team, 2-1 to advance.

Warren successfully read the shot attempted by Val Teixiera. Mauricio Castro followed by beating Crystal Palace keeper Brian Rowland for a 5-3 penalty-kick edge after a 1-1 tie through two overtimes.

Chae Hingenbrinck, Kheli Dube, Chris Tierney and Amaechi Igwe also converted on their penalty kicks for New England, the defending U.S. Open Cup champions. Shintaro Harada, Bryan Harkin and Matthew Mbuta kept the Baltimore club even through three rounds.

The Revolution took a 1-0 lead in the game's sixth minute on goal by Kenny Mansally..

Dan Lader tied it in the 20th minute with a goal.
