D.C. United's Gallardo, Peralta to miss time after hernia surgeries

WASHINGTON -- D.C. United midfielder Marcelo Gallardo and defender Gonzalo Peralta had hernia operations this weekend in Munich, Germany, and both players are expected to need two to three weeks to recover.

The club said Gallardo had surgery Friday and Saturday, while Peralta's procedure was on Saturday.

United general manager Dave Kasper said the team is pleased the surgeries were successful, and they look forward to a quick return for both players.

Gallardo has four goals and three assists this season, while Peralta has one goal. Both joined D.C. United in January.
