MANCHESTER, England (AP) -Manchester City has appointed four new board members, including a New York property lawyer who advised on this year's sale of NFL franchise the Miami Dolphins.
Marty Edelman - who helped Stephen Ross buy 50 percent of the franchise, Dolphin Stadium and surrounding land in March for US$550 million - was appointed as a strategic adviser on Monday, while Khaldoon Al Mubarak was installed as chairman of the board.
"The new board marks the start of an incredibly exciting era for Manchester City and its fans," executive chairman Garry Cook said. "We are currently in a period in which we are reviewing the club's operations and structures, with the clear intention to bring in more of the very best people to serve the club."
Greek shipping magnate Victor Restis and Simon Pearce were also appointed to City's board.
The Abu Dhabi United Group, led by Sheikh Mansour Bin Zayed Al Nahyan, bought City last month in a deal believed to be worth about 200 million pounds (US$370 million).
The takeover brought a British-record transfer deal for Brazil striker Robinho, and the new owners have suggested they want to challenge Manchester United and Chelsea as the most successful club in Britain.
