Lyon draws with Lille 2-2 in French league

PARIS (AP) -Lyon fought back twice to draw 2-2 with Lille on Saturday and consolidate top spot in the French league.

The defending champions needed an own-goal from Aurelien Chedjou and a volleyed goal from Italy left back Fabio Grosso to tops the standings with 20 points after nine rounds. Marseille can cut Lyon's lead to one point if it beats Valenciennes on Sunday.

Lille opened the scoring in the 14th as Adil Rami out-jumped the Lyon defense to nod in a free kick from Brazilian midfielder Michel Bastos.

Lyon replied in the 23rd with an own-goal from Chedjou, who deflected a free kick from Juninho into his own net.

Michel Bastos made it 2-1 with a powerful free kick from 30 meters (yards) in the 63rd before Grosso, unmarked at the far post, volleyed home a corner from Juninho to level in the 76th.

Meanwhile, Yoann Gourcuff scored one goal and set up another to lead Bordeaux to a 2-1 victory that snapped Toulouse's four-match winning streak.

The France playmaker skipped past defenders Mauro Cetto and Mohamed Fofana with a clever backheel move before scoring from close range in the 29th minute.

David Bellion doubled the lead for Bordeaux in the 40th after receiving Gourcuff's headed pass and dribbling past Cetto to unleash a diagonal strike.

Etienne Capoue pulled a goal back for Toulouse in injury time, taking advantage of a mistake from goalkeeper Mathieu Valverde.

Bordeaux leapfrogged Toulouse into second place on goal difference with 17 points.

Also Saturday, it was: Caen 2, Grenoble 2; Monaco 1, Nice 2; Paris Saint-Germain 3, Lorient 2; Nantes 1, Saint-Etienne 0; and Sochaux 1, Le Havre 1.

Sochaux, Le Havre, and Lorient still remain in the relegation zone.

On Sunday, Rennes takes on Auxerre, and Le Mans plays Nancy.
