BUCHAREST, Romania (AP) -Dorin Goian scored a late goal Wednesday to help Romania come back and beat Georgia 2-1 in an international friendly.
Goian scored from close range in the 70th minute to give the host team the win at Stefan Cel Mare stadium.
Georgia striker Otar Martsvaladze had given his team the lead in the 12th, dribbling through the Romanian defense and shooting past goalkeeper Bogdan Lobont, but Ciprian Marica equalized for Romania in the 62nd.
After Martsvaladze scored, Romania had several scoring chances in the first half but failed to equalize. Florin Costea came close in the 38th minute, but his shot from outside the box trickled left of the goal.
Romania finally managed to score when Marica headed past Georgia goalkeeper Giorgi Lomaia after taking a pass from Razvan Cocis.
The Romanians then went on the offensive, and they were rewarded with Goian's winning goal with 20 minutes to go.
Romania defender George Ogararu was taken off the field after injuring his right ankle when he landed awkwardly from a mid-air tackle.
Both teams observed a minute's silence and the Romanian players wore black armbands to honor the 12 people who died in a mining accident in the Transylvanian Jiu Valley on Saturday.
The Romanian Football Federation donated proceeds from tickets sales to miners' and rescue workers' families.
