AC Milan held to 2-2 draw by Wolfsburg

Presented by Epson

MILAN, Italy (AP) -AC Milan was held to a 2-2 draw by Wolfsburg on Wednesday and consequently will face a team eliminated from the Champions League in the next round of the UEFA Cup.

Wolfsburg won Group E with 10 points and Milan finished second with eight.

Milan's opponent in the next round will be chosen from a group of teams including Bordeaux, Werder Bremen and Zenit St. Petersburg.

"I would have preferred to win than to score," said Milan's 19-year-old forward Alexandre Pato, who put Milan up 2-1 before Wolfsburg equalized.

Filling in for the injured Gennaro Gattuso, Massimo Ambrosini gave Milan the lead 15 minutes in, heading in a corner from Clarence Seedorf.

Former Italy defender Cristian Zaccardo equalized for Wolfsburg in the 55th, using one touch to redirect a pass from the left flank.

Milan needed less than a minute to grab the lead back, with Pato finding the target after Andriy Shevchenko's pass to Filippo Inzaghi bounced toward him instead.

Mahir Saglik brought the teams level again in the 81st with a deflection inside the area.
