HOUSTON (AP) -Diego Jimenez scored in the 71st minute to give UAG Tecos a 1-0 win over Morelia on Monday in InterLiga Group A play.
Jimenez headed the ball past Morelia goalie Moises Munoz off a perfectly weighted pass from Adrian Cortes.
Hugo Droguett had the best scoring chance for Morelia in the 44th minute, but Jose de Jesus Corona came out of the box to make the save.
UAG Tecos improved to 1-1 in group play following a 4-0 loss to Pachuca last weekend at Frisco, Texas.
Morelia will next play Pachuca on Thursday, while Tecos will play Toluca.
Played in the neutral United States, the annual InterLiga is an eight-team event between Mexican clubs to determine the two qualifiers for the upcoming Copa Libertadores - the South American continental club championship.
