Le Guen looks looks to extend Cameroon contract

PARIS (AP) -Coach Paul Le Guen is looking to extend his contract with the Cameroon national side after helping it qualify for the World Cup after a stunning turnaround.

Cameroon was bottom of its qualifying group and had not won a match when Le Guen took over on a short-term contract in July, but the former Paris Saint-Germain, Rangers and Lyon coach guided the team to a fourth straight win with a 2-0 victory in Morocco on Saturday.

"I will meet with officials from the Federation next week, but I would like to continue and that is also the wish of Cameroon's football directors," Le Guen told Sunday's edition of sports daily L'Equipe. "It's probable that I will do it."

Le Guen guided Cameroon to back to back wins against Gabon and also beat Togo. He stripped veteran defender Rigobert Song of the captaincy and gave it to prolific Inter Milan striker Samuel Eto'o, who scored in both games against Gabon and against Morocco in Fes.
