Queen to open Arsenal's ground

LONDON (AP) -Queen Elizabeth II will officially open Arsenal's Emirates Stadium next month.

The queen will conduct a ceremony on Oct. 26 at the 60,000-capacity stadium which has replaced Highbury as Arsenal's home and has been in use for a month.

"It is a true honor and we are immensely looking forward to welcoming Her Majesty and the Duke of Edinburgh to our new stadium next month," Arsenal chairman Peter Hill-Wood said.

"In 1932, the west stand at Highbury was officially opened by the Prince of Wales, so we are again extremely honored to have royalty mark the start of the next chapter in the history of Arsenal football club."
