SWINDON, England (AP) -Paul Sturrock was named manager of League Two club Swindon on Tuesday, three weeks after he was fired by Sheffield Wednesday.
Sturrock, 50, signed a four year contract and replaces Dennis Wise, who left Swindon two weeks ago to take charge of League Championship side Leeds.
Swindon is fourth in League Two, the fourth tier of English soccer.
"I don't see this job as a quick fix," Sturrock said. "You can't get overnight success, but for example, if I bring players in, they have to be able to hold their own in League One."
Sturrock had been at League Championship side Sheffield Wednesday from September 2004 and has also managed Southampton and Plymouth in England and Dundee United and St. Johnstone in Scotland.
