The Miami Dolphins and the N.Y. Jets really hate each other, so let's have them brawl in the opening round of the Mascot contest. You have the Jets' unofficial mascot, Fireman Ed, who may or may not have coined the famous "J-E-T-S, Jets!, Jets!, Jets!" chant.
We know this to be fact and that is he boldly leads the famous chant at all home games, much to the delight of Jets fans. Can Fireman Ed hose down the competition and advance to the second round?
The Dolphins' official mascot, T.D., has held his position since April of 1997. We all know that dolphins are generally very intelligent and friendly marine mammals. When it comes to football mascots, though, T.D. is pressed to employ these two traits to entertain the hard-to-please Miami fans, who have suffered through several years of sub-par football. Rumor has it he’s rolls with the Miami Dolphins cheerleaders, who think he’s just adorable.
Fireman Ed is a wild and crazy kind of guy and so one would believe that he has a big advantage over happy-go-lucky T.D. But don't count out the Dolphins’ mascot, who continues to display that fin-to-fin smile despite how poorly the Dolphins have played in recent seasons. Talk about perseverance!
