We all know I'm a big Sir Purr fan, but I have to show some major props to Viktor.

This Viking is having his way with animals so far, slashing his way past Gumbo the Dog in the first round and then disposing of Staley Da Bear in the second. So now he gets Sir Purr, the fierce panther from Carolina. (Look at that belly on him!)

Viktor has already done better than any other Vikings in CBSSports.com mascot history as the Cleveland State Vikings went out in the first round last summer in a college tournament.

My favorite thing about Viktor is kids can get a book from the Vikings website joining "Viktor and friends as they enjoy the sights and sounds of Vikings football." What could that possibly include?

Look kids, there is Adrian Peterson running wild against San Diego, but uh-oh he's holding his right knee, there goes our playoff chances. But wait! Here comes Tarvaris Jackson to save the day! Oh no, he just threw a pick in the end zone. Having fun yet little Johnny and Susie?

As for Sir Purr, we already know what he's done -- downed two birds with ease. This matchup will be a lot tougher for him as neither of those animals were wielding a sword wreaking havoc on numerous countries. But this isn't just some fat black cat. This thing is REAL!

Most mascots are played by guys in a costume or human suit. But after talking with Riley Fields, Director of Community Relations for the Panthers, there is nobody inside Sir Purr.

Huh?

That's right, the mascot is real, there is no person hiding inside! RUN FOR THE HILLS! (Actually, it’s North Carolina – RUN FOR THE BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS!)

"Sir Purr is just Sir Purr," said Fields. "He was actually in the office today and he's at his computer and will e-mail you something."

And that he did! He e-mailed me a couple of clever little stories, including one about being at a stop light in the Cat Cruiser, when somebody pulled alongside of him, expressing his support for the Panthers. And suddenly his car continued to move forward and "CRASH!" he runs into the car in front of him.

So yeah, Viktor can dispose of animals, but Sir Purr makes people crash into other cars.
