USC's memorable run at history is over.
At least it is in the CBS SportsLine.com playoff bracket.
Antonio Pittman scored on a 6-yard run in the first overtime, giving Ohio State a 24-17 victory over the No. 1-ranked Trojans.
USC had a chance to tie the game, but on fourth-and-4, Matt Leinart's pass was incomplete, allowing Ohio State to reach the title game and setting up a rematch with second-seeded Texas, which easily beat Notre Dame.
Ohio State ralled and took what appeared to be the game-winning touchdown with 48 seconds left, when Troy Smith found Sanotnio Holmes on an 11-yard pass, giving the Buckeyes a 17-14 lead.
But Leinart drove the Trojans down the field and Mario Danelo hit a 31-yarder with four seconds remaining to send the game into overtime.
Holmes was the star of the game with 126 yards receiving and two touchdowns. Reggie Bush finished with 106 yards rushing, while Leinart had 226 yards passing and one touchdown.
In the Orange Bowl, Texas held on to a 10-3 lead in the second quarter, but Aaron Ross returned a punt 80 yards for a touchdown, giving the Longhorns a 17-3 halftime lead.
Notre Dame fought back on its first possession of the second half when Darius Walker scored on an 8-yard run, cutting the lead back to seven points. But later in the third, Vince Young scored from 1 yard out, giving the Longhorns a 24-10 lead.
With this being the national title, voting is over -- the game will be simulated. Check back later this week to see who won it all!
