To get you started for Saturday, here is what to watch during Day 6 at the U.S. Open. (Reminder: Listed start times are not precise.)
| U.S. Open Day 6 |
11 a.m.: We start off with some good women's singles action as Jelena Jankovic take on No. 2 seed Agnieszka Radwanska on Arthur Ashe Stadium. Radwanska has never advanced past the fourth round at the U.S. Open, so this will be a big step toward reaching that.
Over on the Armstrong Stadium court, No. 13 seed Dominika Cibulkova takes on No. 20 seed Roberta Vinci. Cibulkova could be a sleeper in the U.S. Open on the women's side as she reached the quarterfinals here in 2010 and the quarterfinals at Wimbledon earlier this year.
One of the surprises of the men's tournament is American Jack Sock, who is playing in only his third Grand Slam ever. He takes on Nicolas Almagro on the grandstand court, looking for a berth in the fourth round.
1 p.m.: Olympic gold will be on display Saturday around 1 p.m. as Serena Williams takes on Ekaterina Makarova on Arthur Ashe and Andy Murray faces Feliciano Lopez over on the Armstrong court.
4 p.m.: No. 1 seed Roger Federer will take on No. 25 seed Fernando Verdasco as the final day match on Arthur Ashe. Over on the Grandstand court, American James Blake, who won his first two matches plays No. 15 seed Milos Raonic.
Kim Clijsters might have gotten knocked out of the women's single tournament, but she's still around playing in mixed doubles. Clijsters and Bob Bryan face Ekaterina Makarova/Bruno Soares in the second round.
(The night session can be found on the Tennis Channel)
7 p.m.: Ana Ivanovic, who is still looking for her first U.S. Open title and only second Grand Slam title takes on Sloane Stephens in the first match at night.
9 p.m.: No. 23 seed Mardy Fish, who has two consecutive fourth rounds at Flushing Meadows, will try to keep that streak alive as he takes on No. 16 seed Gilles Simon.
