When Rafael Nadal pulled out of the French Open due to injury, his status for Wimbledon was immediately in doubt.

On Thursday, Nadal confirmed he will not play at Wimbledon, announcing via his Facebook page that he needs more time for his left wrist injury to heal.

The news does not come as a surprise, as most expected Nadal to skip the event.

Nadal won Wimbledon titles in 2008 and 2010. He's tied for second with Pete Sampras on the list of all-time major wins with 14, trailing Roger Federer's 17.
