Davis Cup: Czech Republic leads Belgium 2-0 with straight set wins in singles


OSTRAVA, Czech Republic (AP) -Tomas Berdych and Radek Stepanek had straight set victories Friday to give the Czech Republic a 2-0 lead over Belgium in the first round of the Davis Cup.

The 10th-ranked Berdych defeated Kristof Vliegen 6-3, 6-1, 6-4, and Stepanek needed two tiebreakers to beat Steve Darcis 6-4, 7-6 (4), 7-6 (5).

In Saturday's doubles, Lukas Dlouhy and Pavel Vizner will face Belgium's Ruben Bemelmans and Olivier Rochus.

Berdych and Darcis will open the reverse singles Sunday, followed by Stepanek taking on Vliegen.
