EASTBOURNE, England -- Former Wimbledon champions Amelie Mauresmo and Lindsay Davenport will play the Wimbledon tuneup event in Eastbourne.
Davenport won the Eastbourne grass-court tournament in 2001 and Mauresmo was runner-up to Justine Henin last year. Their participation in the June 16-21 tournament in southeast England was announced by organizers Thursday.
The Eastbourne tournament is played the week before Wimbledon, which runs June 23-July 6.
Mauresmo won Wimbledon in 2006 and Davenport in 1999.
Also Thursday, organizers of the DFS Classic, another Wimbledon warmup in Birmingham, said that Jelena Jankovic will defend her title in the event from June 9-15.
