WHITE PLAINS, N.Y. -- Severine Bremond, a 2006 Wimbledon quarterfinalist, and former U.S. Fed Cup players Jamea Jackson and Ahsha Rolle were among seven women awarded wild cards into the U.S. Open on Wednesday.
The others are Americans Gail Brodsky, Asia Muhammad, Melanie Oudin and CoCo Vandeweghe. An Australian player, yet to be named, will also receive a wild card from the U.S. Tennis Association.
Bremond, ranked No. 124, will compete through a reciprocal agreement with the French federation, which granted a wild card into the French Open to a player picked by the USTA. This will be her 20th consecutive Grand Slam appearance. She reached a career-best ranking of No. 34 in February.
Brodsky, 17, earned her wild card by winning the U.S. 18s championship last weekend.
Jackson was ranked in the top 50 at the end of 2006, but spent much of last year recovering from hip surgery. Rolle reached the third round of the last year's U.S. Open as a qualifier.
