STARKVILLE, Miss. -- A judge has dismissed a rape charge against an English tennis player at a United States university.
Okitbbeha County Judge Bernard Crump dismissed the charge Tuesday without prejudice during a hearing for 20-year-old Christopher Richard Doerr, who attends Mississippi State.
Without prejudice means prosecutors could still file later charges against the junior from London.
County prosecutor Roy Carpenter declined to comment.
Doerr was arrested Nov. 17 after the alleged sexual assault of an MSU coed during a party at an off-campus apartment complex.
His attorney, Jim Waide, says there was no evidence to support the rape charge.
Doerr is suspended from the tennis team but Waide said he plans to get a copy of the judge's order and ask that Doerr be reinstated.
