Top seed Petrova, Czink advance to meet in quarterfinals in Quebec City

QUEBEC CITY -- Top-seeded Nadia Petrova hit 10 aces in beating 19-year-old American amateur Madison Brengle 6-3, 6-2 at the Bell Challenge on Wednesday.

Petrova's victory set up a rematch in the quarterfinals with fifth-seeded Melinda Czink of Hungary, whom the Russian beat at the same stage last year en route to the title.

  Bracket

Czink, who beat Petrova on clay in April, topped Severine Bremond Beltrame of France 6-4, 6-3. No. 8 Julia Goerges of Germany reached the last eight for the first time this year by dispatching Canadian teen Rebecca Marino 6-2, 6-3.

Alla Kudryavtseva of Russia eliminated sixth-seeded Jill Craybas 7-5, 6-2 in the second round.

Kudryavtseva reached her second quarterfinals of the year and the fifth in her career, but has yet to win one. Her latest chance will be against either third-seeded Aleksandra Wozniak of Canada or Regina Kulikova of Russia.
