U.S. Open champ Stosur to lead Australia on Fed Cup team
MELBOURNE, Australia -- U.S. Open champion Samantha Stosur will lead Australia in a Fed Cup World Group II match at Switzerland next month.
Tennis Australia said Saturday that Stosur, who lost in the first round of the Australian Open, will be joined by Jarmila Gajdosova, Jelena Dokic and Casey Dellacqua for the Feb. 4-5 match at Fribourg, Switzerland.
Gajdosova also lost in the first round at Melbourne Park, while Dokic and Dellacqua went out in the second.
Australia was relegated after a 3-2 loss to Ukraine in World Group playoffs last year, while Switzerland was promoted from the Europe/Africa Zone Group I.
Both teams will be attempting to return to the eight-team World Group for 2013, with a second round of matches scheduled in April for the winners.
