Argentina leads Germany 4-0 in Davis Cup

  •

BAMBERG, Germany (AP) -Argentina substitute Juan Ignacio Chela defeated Florian Mayer of Germany 7-5, 7-5 to stretch his country's lead to 4-0 over Germany in the first round of the Davis Cup on Sunday.

Chela played after the Argentines had already qualified for the quarterfinals after victories in the opening singles and doubles of the best-of-five series.

Argentina will play Croatia in the quarters in April.

Cedrik-Marcel Stebe had only German pride to play for in Sunday's final game against Argentina's Eduardo Schwank.

Argentina was the runner-up last year to Spain and is seeking its first title after losing four finals. Germany has won three titles.
