COLUMBIA, S.C. -- Two-time U.S. Open doubles champion Max Mirnyi will lead the Belarus team that faces the United States in the Davis Cup semifinals in Charleston later this month.
Along with Mirnyi, the Belarussian Tennis Association said Vladimir Voltchkov, Andrei Karatchenia and Alexander Skrypko will play in the best-of-five matches beginning Sept. 24 at the Family Circle Tennis Center.
The American team is made up of 2003 U.S. Open champ Andy Roddick, Olympic silver medalist Mardy Fish and the doubles pair of twins Bob and Mike Bryan.
Mirnyi won the U.S. Open men's doubles title with Lleyton Hewitt in 2000 and again two years later with Mahesh Bhupathi. A member of the Belarussian Davis Cup team since 1994, Mirnyi has a 37-15 career record in the event.
Voltchkov, 26, reached the Wimbledon semifinals in 2000. He also has been on his country's Davis Cup team since 1994.
