Sam Hurd's attorney told a TV station the former Bears and Cowboys receiver will plead guilty Thursday to a federal drug conspiracy charge. Hurd faces a maximum sentence of 10 years to life in prison and a $10 million fine. He was arrested in December 2011 and accused of trying to set up a massive drug-dealing operation in Chicago.
The trial of former Bears receiver Sam Hurd is set to begin April 8. But Hurd's lawyer is seeking a delay because the government, in trying to streamline the case, recently filed a revised indictment in which Hurd faces only one broad charge of drug conspiracy instead of the six drug charges that he previously was facing.
