The NFL officially recognized a record 73 underclassmen as having been granted special eligibility into the 2013 draft. The list includes Texas A&M offensive tackle Luke Joeckel, NFLDraftScout.com's top-rated prospect, and a few surprises.
While the NFL has yet to announce the final tally, the deadline for underclassmen to declare themselves eligible for the 2013 draft was yesterday, January 15. And, with 25 of NFLDraftScout.com's top 50 prospects (including No 1 overall) forgoing eligibility, what is clear is that underclassmen will once again dominate the league's April selection show.
Though neither was necessarily viewed as a likely candidate to leave school early, Colorado left tackle David Bakhtiari and LSU left tackle Chris Faulk have each demonstrated the talent to warrant top 75 consideration in the 2013 NFL Draft.
