The 90th edition of the East-West Shrine Game did not bring offensive fireworks but it could help raise the stock of several prospects in the eyes of NFL scouts. Among those who stood out were defensive ends Za'Darius Smith from Kentucky and Miami's Anthony Chickillo and Southern Cal defensive back Josh Shaw.
Dak Prescott and the top-ranked Mississippi State Bulldogs won 45-31 but NFL scouts will note strong efforts in the game from Kentucky's top 2015 NFL prospects Alvin "Bud" Dupree and Za'Darius Smith as well as a breakout performance from redshirt sophomore QB Patrick Towles.
Only 254 prospects will hear their names called on draft weekend and with more and more underclassmen entering the NFL early, the number of draft slots dwindles for college football seniors. However, almost every FBS-level football program will have at least one prospect who will sign a free agent contract or receive a tryout.
