The Bowl Championship Series' 'playoff group' has received bids from four cities that want to enter the playoff rotation starting in 2014-15: Atlanta (Chick-fil-A), Dallas (Cotton), Phoenix (Fiesta) and San Diego (Holiday).
The BCS' 'Request for Proposal' for the college football playoff to more than 30 bowl sites asks for an 85 percent cut on revenue/expense margin after the game and no hosting your own bowl games within seven days of the playoff game.
Bowl executives from several cities nationwide are expecting an RFP (Request for Proposal) from the BCS folks any day now.
An RFP is the green light to bid for the college football playoff rotation, the chance to join the Rose, Sugar and Orange Bowls in the 12-year, high-payout format starting in the 2014 season.
BCS commissioners revealed dates and bowl rotations for the new playoff system that begins in 2014. If the season begins on Aug. 31 in 2019 and 2024, there will be 138 days between the first kickoff and the national title game.
