With four experienced starters, stingy defense and a seasoned head coach, Miami is built for March.
And then there were none. SMU's pursuit of an unbeaten season came to an end on Sunday, as it ran into scorching hot Temple team that defeated the Mustangs 89-80.
After a bounce-back win for the Wildcats, projected star Skal Labissiere showed the improvements needed to get his season heading in the right direction.
Led by senior point guard Yogi Ferrell, Indiana is off to a 5-0 start in the Big Ten, Oklahoma heads to Iowa State tonight plus other news and notes from CBS Sports' Jon Rothstein.
Iowa won at Michigan State for the first time since 1993 on Thursday, at which point the Hawkeyes completed a regular-season sweep of the Spartans. Kansas and Oklahoma were No. 1 and No. 2 in the CBS Sports Top 25 (and one) on Monday morning. Then they played a triple-overtime thriller that Kansas ultimately won 109-106 late Monday night. No. 22 Cincinnati fell to Temple 77-70 in its AAC home opener. And surprisingly given that team's identity under Mick Cronin, it's the defense that is at fault.
Wisconsin defeated Temple 76-60, with Nigel Hayes scoring 18 points and grabbing 12 rebounds and Bronson Koenig scoring 17 of his own. But for the Badgers, this one came down to defense.
College basketball is back on CBS. In the first game of the year, Wisconsin will take on Temple Saturday at the Kohl Center in Madison. The game will tip off at 12:30 p.m. ET. Here's how you can watch it.
