North Carolina's Hall of Fame coach, Roy Williams, scheduled a game at Northern Iowa so that senior Marcus Paige could play a game near his hometown of Marion, Iowa. But a preseason injury means Paige won't be healthy enough to play -- though he might be recognized in some creative way.
The John R. Wooden Award is given annually to the nation's top college basketball player. Kentucky and Indiana both have three players on the preseason Top 50 list. Wisconsin's Frank Kaminsky won the award last season.
College basketball's Associated Press Poll went relatively unchanged this week, given that most of the teams involved played cupcakes and took care of business.
