In an effort to revitalize a struggling front four, the New York Giants are scheduled to meet with former Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson and former Panthers defensive end Eric Norwood according to reports. Patterson reportedly will undergo a physical as part of his visit. In 2011, Patterson suffered a seizure in training camp before he underwent brain surgery following the season.
The Philadelphia Eagles have released defensive tackles Cullen Jenkins and Mike Patterson. Jenkins signed with the Eagles as a free agent in 2011. Patterson was the longest-tenured player on the roster.
Eagles defensive tackle Mike Patterson contracted viral pneumonia last week and had to be hospitalized, and the team placed him on the non-football injury/illness list and cut his pay in the process. That doesn't sit well with Patterson's representation, and his agents say they plan to file a grievance to get Patterson paid in full.
The rest of this season for the Eagles is all about one person -- rookie quarterback Nick Foles. He took a huge step forward last week by leading the Eagles to two fourth-quarter touchdowns and a victory. On Thursday night, he will be tested again against the Bengals.
