No. 24 Colorado State 38, Nevada 33
Nevada QB David Neill had another gaudy statistical day (35 of 52 for 429 yards, 3 TDs and no interceptions), but the Wolf Pack couldn't stop Colorado State's Kevin McDougal, who rushed for 147 yards on 19 carries after putting up 189 yards last week. CSU QB Matt Newton also had a big night, throwing for 312 yards and three TDs.
Illinois 38, San Diego State 10
The Illini used a 17-point second quarter to put away the Aztecs, who had trouble sustaining any offense against the host team.
Wyoming 41, Weber State 16
A week after getting blasted by Tennessee, the Cowboys trailed the Division I-AA Wildcats after a quarter of play in Laramie. Wyoming, however, outscored the visitors 35-6 the rest of the way and got 115 yards rushing from Jon Jennings to get its first win of the year.
UNLV 27, Baylor 24
In one of the most shocking endings in college football history, UNLV's Kevin Thomas returned a fumble 99 yards for the game-winning TD to push the Rebels to 2-0 on the year after they failed to win a game last season. Baylor, with UNLV pinned back on its own goal line and without a timeout, opted to try to punch it in instead of taking a knee. The ball, however, popped loose and Thomas was off to the races.
New Mexico State 35, New Mexico 28
The Aggies picked up their second straight win over the Lobos on a 29-yard pass from K.C. Enzminger to senior TE Lane Grady.

THURSDAY

Brigham Young 35, Washington 28
Senior quarterback Kevin Feterik passed for a remarkable 500 yards and connected with Chris Hale for the 38-yard game-winning touchdown pass with just over a minute remaining. Washington drove the length of the field in the final minute but the Cougars turned them away near the goal line.
