Big 12 Game of the Week

No. 9 Kansas State 66, Missouri 0
Jonathan Beasley threw for two touchdowns and ran for another and cornerback Dyshod Carter scored twice as K-State kept its Big 12 title game and BCS hopes alive. Frank Murphy added two TD runs and Adrian Beard recovered a blocked punt for a touchdown as the Wildcats worked out their frustrations from the previous week's 41-15 loss to No. 5 Nebraska. Kansas State (10-1, 7-1 Big 12) still could win the North Division if Colorado upsets the Cornhuskers on Friday.

Missouri (4-7, 1-7) committed six turnovers and was shut out for the third time in five games. The Wildcats scored on their first five possessions -- plus one of Missouri's -- in leading 35-0 after one quarter and 42-0 at the half. Their 35 first-quarter points set a school record for a period, breaking the record of 34 set last year in the second quarter against Northern Illinois.

Other Big 12 action

Texas Tech 38, Oklahoma 28
As expected, Texas Tech coach Spike Dykes announced his retirement shortly after the Red Raiders rallied to win, as Kliff Kingsbury threw for 259 yards and three touchdowns and linebacker Kyle Shipley forced a fumble that led to a touchdown for Texas Tech (6-5, 5-3 Big 12). Dykes joined the school in 1984 and led the Red Raiders to a 82-67-1 record.

With 7:20 left in the third and Oklahoma (6-4, 4-3 Big 12) leading 21-16, Shipley rammed into quarterback Josh Heupel at the Sooners 25 and the ball went bouncing backward. Several players on both teams tried to pounce on the ball, until Tech's Kevin Curtis finally recovered it at the Oklahoma 1. A quarterback sneak by Kingsbury gave Tech a 24-21 lead with 4:39 left in the third, and the Raiders rolled from there.

Oklahoma St. 34, Baylor 14
Terance Richardson returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown as Oklahoma State scored 24 unanswered second-quarter points to roll over Baylor. The Beavers (1-10, 0-8) became the first Big 12 team to finish its conference schedule winless since the league began in 1996. Oklahoma State (5-5, 3-4) kept alive its postseason hopes and needs a victory next week over Oklahoma to be bowl eligible. Baylor, in its worst finish since a one-victory season in 1971, lost its last six games and 18 of 19.
Kansas 31, Iowa St. 28
Carl Nesmith blocked Mike McKnight's 34-yard field goal attempt with 26 seconds left and Kansas, which almost blew a 10-point lead in the final minutes, held on to beat Iowa State in Lawrence, Kan. Joe Garcia, who had missed two field goal tries, made good on a 29-yarder that gave the Jayhawks a 31-21 lead with 4:57 left. But Sage Rosenfels marched the Cyclones right down field and his third TD pass of the day, an 11-yarder to Michael Brantley, made it 31-28 with 2:54 left. The Cyclones ended the season with a five-game losing streak and wound up 4-7 and 1-7 in Dan McCarney's fifth year.
