Wooden Award Watch
The John R. Wooden Award, named for the legendary UCLA coach, is presented each year to the most outstanding collegiate basketball player.
Each week, SportsLine takes a closer look at the leading candidates for the award, complete with a ranking of the contenders and a profile a player worthy of a special look.
| Player Profile: Courtney Alexander, Fresno State |
| |
Only one thing is keeping Alexander from officially being one of the nation's leading scorers, and it sure isn't opposing defenses. It's the stress fracture in his foot that kept him out of action for the first six games, putting him short of the minimum to qualify. Since his return he's been a scoring machine, maybe enough to get the Bulldogs to the NCAA Tournament.
