SportsLine.com looks at the players who turned in the top individual performances in Friday night's action.

Other April stars of the night

The St. Louis Blues need Chris Pronger on the ice, not in the penalty box and on Friday, their captain maintained his composure. As a result, St. Louis stays alive to face San Jose in Game 6 of their quarterfinals series. Pronger took only two minutes in penalties, but delivered seven big hits and was an imposing force at both ends of the ice. Pronger also scored the game-winner in the third period when he managed to sneak up from his point position and take a perfect cross-ice pass from Jochen Hecht before beating San Jose goalie Steve Shields. It was his second game-winner of the series.

Jaromir Jagr, RW, Pittsburgh Penguins

Players as good as Jaromir Jagr often get lucky breaks and the superstar's good fortune helped the Pittsburgh Penguins advance into the second round of the NHL playoffs. Jagr didn't get many scoring chances, but made his presence felt with his play-making. In the second period, he made a great pass deep in Washington's end to an open Janne Laukkanen, but the Penguins defenseman couldn't convert. In the third period, Jagr tried to get the puck in front again, but this time it deflected off defenseman Calle Johansson and into the net for the game-winning goal.

Brett Hull, RW, Dallas Stars

The Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers have played several hard-fought playoff games over the last few seasons, with the Stars usually coming out on top - usually by one goal. Friday night was no different as Dallas managed a 3-2 victory to eliminate the pesky Oilers. Brett Hull scored the winner late in the third period when he took a drop pass from Joe Nieuwendyk and fired a low wrist shot that glanced off goalie Tommy Salo's right pad before sailing into the net. Hull, who assisted on one of the Stars earlier goals, recorded his 80th career playoff goal on the winner, moving him past Jean Beliveau into seventh on the all-time list.

Peter Forsberg, C, Colorado Avalanche

A series of injuries have limited the action Peter Forsberg saw this season, and threatened to keep him from much post-season play. Forsberg missed the first game of the series against Phoenix, but returned with a key assist in Game 2. On Friday, he helped Colorado close out the series by setting up the tying goal by Sandis Ozolinsh in the second period and then scoring the winner in the third.
