Hooking

Back to glossary

Hooking is called when a player uses his stick to impede the progress of an opponent. It results in a two-minute penalty for the perpetrator. If a hook occurs when one player is checking another and only stick-to-stick contact is possible, a penalty is not called. If a player is injured from being hooked, the perpetrator receives a five-minute major penalty, a game misconduct and a $100 fine.
