New Hampshire 300 Notes
  • The NASCAR Winston Cup Series Leader Bonus is worth $20,000 this weekend at New Hampshire International Speedway.
  • Start sixth and enjoy a win. That's where Tony Stewart and retired driver Ernie Irvan started when they both got a win at New Hampshire International Speedway.
  • Teams in NASCAR's Winston Cup Series and in the Busch North Series, NASCAR Touring event will be required to use one-inch restrictor plates for practice, qualifying and during this weekend's race at NHIS. Both Series will also take pre-practice laps behind the pace car to ensure proper brake temperature prior to full-speed practice runs.
  • Jeff Burton's first NASCAR Winston Cup Series start occurred at NHIS in July, 1993 - he started sixth and finished 37th.
  • Steve Grissom's best career finish in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series happened in July, 1997 - he finished fourth.
  • Reigning winner of this race, Joe Nemechek, received his first start at NHIS in July, 1993, as well as his first NASCAR Winston Cup Series win (September, 1999).

Other Notes
  • The NASCAR Winston Cup Series 2000 season has had 12 different Bud Pole winners. Five drivers have started from the pole position more than once this season: Rusty Wallace (eight), Dale Jarrett (three), Ricky Rudd, Jeremy Mayfield and Dale Earnhardt, Jr. (two each).
  • Bobby Labonte remains the point leader of the NASCAR Winston Cup Series point standings, extending his margin to 158 points - the largest point margin of the season.
  • Seven-time NASCAR Winston Cup Series champion Dale Earnhardt moved into second place in the point standings, leading third place Dale Jarrett by six points.
  • With nine races remaining, Labonte's point lead is greater than the difference between a first and 43rd-place finish.
  • The top five in points are separated by 408 points. The difference between fourth place and second place is only 25 points.
  • Ricky Rudd remains seventh in the standings, despite not having won a race this season.
