Michael Johnson wins the 400m for his second gold medal in the event, Australia's Cathy Freeman wins the 400m gold in the women's race and it's announced that world shot put champ C.J. Hunter tested positive for an illegal substance.
DAY 9
The U.S. women's soccer team advances to the gold medal match, Texan Laura Wilkinson wins gold in diving and Michael Johnson qualifies for the 400m final.
DAY 8
Marion Jones and Maurice Greene give the U.S. a gold-medal sweep in the 100m and the U.S. men's and women's medley relay teams set world records in the pool.
DAY 7
The women's softball team snaps a three-game losing streak and Americans Gary Hall, Jr. and Anthony Ervin tie for the men's 50m gold.

Lenny Krayzelburg wins his second gold medal; the U.S. softball team loses its third straight game for the first time and the men's Dream Team survives a close call against Lithuania.
