It stands to reason that Florida State and Miami will beat Clemson and Virginia Tech this week, which would -- according to the latest BCS rankings -- set up the Seminoles for a national championship showdown with Oklahoma in the Orange Bowl. Miami would face our expected SEC champion, Florida, in something of a dream matchup for the Sugar Bowl. And with Clemson stumbling last week, Notre Dame stands to gain a trip to the Fiesta Bowl if it finishes 9-2, which is looking increasingly likely. Among this week's assumptions: Oklahoma will beat Nebraska again in the Big 12 championship game, saddling the Cornhuskers with a second defeat (and dropping them into the Cotton Bowl), leaving the Fiesta Bowl looking for a second at-large selection to go with Notre Dame. Can TCU get to No. 6 to work its way into the Sugar or Fiesta? Not likely. That would allow the Fiesta to choose between a 10-1 Virginia Tech, 10-1 Washington, and 9-2 Michigan ... and the bowl would jump at the chance to have Michigan for the first time since 1985.
