Two SEC schools -- Auburn and Mississippi -- made a big move in this week's rankings.
And Virginia Tech jumped 13 spots, largely on the commitment of Kevin Jones, rated the No. 2 running back in the nation by PrepStar.
Like every season, this year's recruiting race is very tight, but there are enough big-time players out there to make a difference for many teams as the Feb. 7 signing day nears.
PrepStar assigns a power rating to all prospects in our database, and uses a computer ranking that calculates verbal commitments, strong leanings and official visits in its formula.
And since good teams are the result of the accumulation of talent over a period of years, we've added each school's PrepStar ranking from each of the past four years, giving you the chance to see more than just a snapshot of this year's recruiting efforts. (Note: The 1997 and 1998 rankings were only 25 deep).
