The Chicago PreDraft Camp tipped off with Tuesday night, and in attendance was a fit-looking Michael Jordan -- who was focused squarely on the basketball court.
Twenty nine NBA teams were present, with some organizations bringing as many as 10 evaluators to watch 62 players compete.
Conspicuously absent were the five high school players all expected to be first round selections -- Eddy Curry, Kwame Brown, Tyson Chandler, DeSagana Diop and Ousmane Cisse.
Also skipping the event were Shane Battier, Eddie Griffin, Jason Richardson, Michael Bradley, Troy Murphy, Jamaal Tinsley, Joseph Forte, Brendan Haywood, Rodney White, Joe Johnson, Gerald Wallace, Richard Jefferson, Zach Randolph and international prospects Pau Gasol and Vladimir Radmanovic. Basically, these are most of the players expected to dominate the first round.
The players who are here expect to have the undivided attention of the scouts and have the ability to play well enough to displace at least a handful of those skipping the event.
Tuesday night's session included several workouts and scrimmages. During one early scrimmage, Nebraska senior Kimani Ffriend suffered a concussion and was taken to a local hospital for precautionary reasons.
