UCLA Offense vs. Stanford Defense
UCLA Defense vs. Stanford Offense
Intangibles | Overall Edge | Gameday Weather

Stanford has allowed 87 points in its past two games, but 28 of those have come due to offensive miscues or special teams errors. Actually, the Cardinal has been solid, particularly against the run (100.6 yards per game, third in Pac-10). Stopping DeShaun Foster, who has racked up 565 yards over the past three games, will be its biggest challenge yet.

Cory Paus had one of his finest games in last week's rout of Cal, completing 13-of-16 passes for a season-high 273 yards. His efficiency running the Bruin offense is often overlooked, but Paus rarely makes mistakes, as evidenced by his streak of 189 consecutive passes without an interception. He takes what the defense gives him, and with teams trying to key on Foster, defenses often give him plenty. Cal put nine men up on the line to limit Foster's holes last weekend and Paus made them pay dearly.

Brian Poli-Dixon is doubtful with a dislocated left shoulder, so sophomore Tab Perry will be Paus' main target in the passing game. Perry leads the team with 15 receptions for 318 yards and two touchdowns. Paus will be facing a Cardinal secondary that likes to gamble, so expect him to take some stabs down the field with Perry and sophomore Ryan Smith. Freshman Craig Bragg got loose for a 58-yard reception last week.

The Edge: UCLA
