Horse-by-horse breakdownCharismatic: was caught five wide going into first turn, raced in the middle of the park while continuing wide along the backstretch, was put to a drive leaving the three quarter pole, closed the gap four wide on the turn, made a run to challenge in midstretch, surged to the front leaving the sixteenth pole then edged clear seventy yards out and was fully extended to hold off Menifee under steady left hand encouragement. Menifee: was outrun in the early stages, found his best stride leaving the backstretch, checked in traffic on the turn, raced behind wall of horses entering the stretch, split horses to get clear in midstretch then finished fastest but could not get up. Cat Thief: moved up between horses to contest the pace on the first turn, forced the pace outside Valhol for six furlongs, took the lead on the far turn, battled heads apart entering the stretch, continued on the front while fighting gamely into deep stretch and weakened in the final seventy yards. Prime Timber: was unhurried for six furlongs, steadily worked his way forwards while five wide to reach contention in upper stretch then improved his position with a late run in the middle of the track. Excellent Meeting: trailed for five furlongs, raced far back while seven wide nearing the quarter pole than failed to threaten while improving her position with a late run in the middle of the track. Kimberlite Pipe: raced in the middle of the pack between horses for a mile, was forced out in upper stretch, raced in tight in midstretch and finished evenly. Worldly Manner: moved up four wide in the early stages, stalked the pace from outside along the backstretch, drew on nearly even terms with the leader at the quarter pole, battled into midstretch then tired in the final eighth. K One King: was outrun to the turn, then improved his position while passing tiring horses. Lemon Drop Kid: never reached contention while eight wide at the quarter pole. Answer Lively: steadied while being bumped along the inside on the first turn, raced in good position along the rail for seven furlongs, checked on the turn and steadily tired thereafter. General Challenge: was knocked sideways soon after the start, steadied in traffic on the first turn, raced between horses while five wide on the turn and lacked a further response. Ecton Park: came in bumping General Challenge at the start, was never a factor. Desert Hero: steadied between horses on the first turn, raced within striking distance for seven furlongs, checked in tight on the turn then gave way. Stephen Got Even: steadied sharply between horses on the first turn, raced in close contention to the far turn, and gave way readily. Valhol: rushed up to gain early advantage, set the pace to the three-eighths pole then tired from his early efforts. First American: lunged out at the start, made a strong run along the rail to reach contention at the three quarter pole, then flattened out. Adonis: steadied along inside in the early going, was shuffled back to last along the rail on the far turn, was carried extremely at the quarter pole and was never close thereafter. Vicar: was caught six wide on the first turn, failed to mount a serious rally while wide throughout. Three Ring: steadied sharply along the inside in the early stages, never reached contention then checked whilke giving way on the turn. |
