The team would not disclose terms, but under the collective bargaining agreement, Foster receives $2.515 million over three years. The Pacers also hold an option for a fourth year at $983,000.

"I'm very happy to have Jeff agree to terms and to have him available for rookie-free agent camp with coach Larry Bird," said Pacers president Donnie Walsh.

The 6-10 Foster made a name for himself at the NBA predraft camps after toiling in obscurity for Southwest Texas State. He was the 21st overall selection by the Golden State Warriors but was traded to the Pacers for guard Vonteego Cummings, whom Indiana selected 26th and shipped to Golden State with a future first-round pick.

"I'm excited to have this done, especially because it allows me to participate in the upcoming rookie-free agent camp and the summer league in Boston," said Foster. "I'm happy to be part of the Pacers and their winning tradition. I hope to contribute that winning tradition."

Foster averaged 14.2 points and 11.2 rebounds his senior season for the Bobcats, shooting 50 percent from the field. He managed to pull down almost as many offensive rebounds (140) as defensive ones (173), showing the knack of getting to the ball.
