Under terms of the collective bargaining agreement, Davis will receive $7.119 million over three years. The team holds a $3.1 million option for a fourth season.

"It's great to have our first-round draft pick signed," said Hornets executive vice president of basketball operations Bob Bass. "We are very excited with his play in Atlanta and look forward to seeing him at training camp in October."

Davis, the highest draft pick to agree to terms, played in the Hornets' summer league entry in the Atlanta Summer Shootout from July 15-17 and averaged 10.7 points and 4.7 assists in three starts.

THE HORNETS SELECTED THE 6-FOOT-2 POINT guard even though they already have David Wesley.

Davis entered the draft after his sophomore year at UCLA. He averaged 15.9 points and 5.1 assists and helped the Bruins to the NCAA Tournament last season. He missed the first four games completing rehabilitation for a torn ACL in his left knee suffered in the NCAA Tournament during his freshman season.

Incredibly quick and an explosive leaper, Davis also developed into a leader. He began to show a promising perimeter game in the latter half of the season, hitting 34.3 percent from 3-point range and 48.1 percent overall.

The Hornets missed the playoffs by one game last season with a 26-24 record but received the third pick in the draft lottery.
