Piatkowski stays with Clippers
Aug. 7, 1999
LOS ANGELES -- The Los Angeles Clippers, who already
have seen three free agents disappear from last season's roster,
re-signed guard Piatkowski has played his entire five-year career with the Clippers and is the franchise's all-time 3-point leader with 334. He averaged 10.5 points last season, shooting 43 percent from the floor and 39 percent from beyond the arc. "Eric has played a valuable role for our team during the past five years and we are delighted to have him back," Clippers vice president of basketball operations Elgin Baylor said. Los Angeles already lost guard Darrick Martin to Sacramento, forward Rodney Rogers to Phoenix and forward Lamond Murray, who was signed and traded to Cleveland for Derek Anderson and Johnny Newman. The Clippers finished last season with the second-worst record in the league at 9-41 and missed the playoffs by 14 games. Copyright 1999 SportsTicker Enterprises, L.P.
