MIAMI -- The Miami Heat signed free-agent guards Mark Davis and Anthony Carter on Friday.

Davis signed with the Heat in January. He played in four games and made one start, averaging 2.3 points in limited minutes before being waived Feb. 19.

The 6-foot-7 Davis was drafted 48th overall in 1995 by Minnesota. He played one season with the Timberwolves, averaging 3.3 points and 2.2 rebounds in 57 games.

Davis signed with Philadelphia in September 1996, appearing in 146 games with 29 starts and averaging 6.3 points per game.

The 6-2 Carter played with the Yakima Sun Kings of the CBA last season, appearing in 48 games with 12 starts, averaging 11.6 points and 4.4 assists per game.

The team did not release details of either player's contract.
