Splitting time between forward and guard and the starting lineup and the bench, Majerle averaged 7.0 points and 4.3 rebounds in 48 games last season, his third with the Heat. He spent his first seven years with the Phoenix Suns and also played for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the 1995-96 season before signing with Miami in August 1996.

The 6-6 Majerle is a three-time All-Star who twice has been named to the NBA All-Defensive Second Team and is among the top 10 in career 3-pointers with 1,114.

Majerle, 33, has career averages of 12.8 points, 4.7 rebounds and 3.1 assists in 768 games. He has played in 110 playoff games, reaching the 1993 NBA Finals with Phoenix. He also was a member of "Dream Team II," which won the gold medal at the 1994 World Championships in Toronto.

It has been a somewhat quiet offseason for the Heat, who saw free agent guard Terry Porter sign with San Antonio and signed free agent forward Otis Thorpe away from the Washington Wizards.

Miami's unsigned free agents include swingman Blue Edwards and guards Voshon Lenard and Rex Walters.
